Sien Lok Society is dedicated to helping people make their dreams come true with the assistance in the form of various scholarship programs in Calgary. Over the course of one school year, the Sien Lok Society of Calgary gives out 16 scholarships. In 2020, we gave scholarships to Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth, Chinese Academy, Bow Valley College, and Mount Royal University.

Bow Valley College
Value: $1,000.00
Eligibility: A student in any career certificate or diploma program.
Criteria:
Financial need
Academic achievement (minimum 2.5 GPA)
Full-time student in any career certificate or diploma program
Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
Permanent resident of Alberta: preference will be given to an individual who has demonstrated efforts in promoting the “Preservation of Chinese culture” or volunteering for the Sien Lok Society or other Cultural Community Organizations
Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth
Value: $1,000.00
Eligibility: Full-time student enrolled in any program
Criteria:
Financial need
Minimum of 70% high school average
Permanent resident of Alberta: preference will be given to an individual who has demonstrated efforts in promoting the “Preservation of Chinese culture” or volunteering for the Sien Lok Society or other cultural community organizations.
Chinese Academy
Value: Twelve Bursaries $1,000.00
Eligibility: Any students enrolled during a school year.

Minimum of 70% high school average

Mount Royal University
Value: $1,000.00

I am in the Practical Nurse program and so excited to soon be a nurse and make a difference in people’s life and the world at large. My future goals are to be a great nurse and to acquire more skills and education to be a Nurse educator. I am from West Africa (Cameroon). I am a Single mother with an awesome 4 year old that gives me hope every day, writing this letter even bring tears into my eyes because of how she has motivated me to work hard and be where I am today.
